You know it’s a popular destination when droves of people are flocking there in triple-digit temperatures.
That’s the case for Las Vegas. Hoards of travelers come here each year, even in the heat of summer. In fact, tourism numbers are up even when there are fewer conventions bringing people in.
Hotels are nearly booked up, with a consistent 85.2% occupancy rate. That’s better than other top destinations, such as New York City and sunny San Diego.
We have all seen Vegas in the movies. If you have never made it here before, chances are it has been on your travel wish list.
And why wouldn’t it be? Vegas is awesome! But what makes this desert city of neon lights so special that it continues to be a top destination in the U.S.?
Let’s dive in…
Bigger Names Taking Stage
Las Vegas has been attracting huge names in the music industry to take residency on the Strip. It’s no longer just wrinkled old raisins on the last leg of their careers.
We’re talking A-list talent choosing to come to Vegas when they could easily sell out a world tour instead.
Most recently, Adele has been receiving rave reviews for her shows at Caesar’s Palace. At the same time, U2 is opening this insane new music venue called The Sphere.
If twang is your thang, country music legend Garth Brooks still puts on a heck of a show, while Shania Twain recently announced an epic comeback to Planet Hollywood next year.
And, of course, there are Vegas entertainment staples that always draw a huge crowd. Penn & Teller, Carrot Top, and The Blue Man Group, to name a few.
Amazing New Resorts
As impressive as the Sin City skyline has been for decades, it continues to grow for the better. Even though the sand in Vegas doesn’t come with a nice beach, Vegas is still similar to a beach getaway in one sense.
Travelers want to stay at the nicest places to indulge themselves, much like luxe resorts at top beach destinations.
Here in Vegas, it’s no different. There are a plethora of amazing resorts to choose from, including new ones opening this year on the world-famous Strip.
Casinos Keep Getting Better And Better
Vegas continues to invest in the best experience for gamblers. When new resorts open, the casinos attached are just as glamorous.
For example, not only will the Hard Rock soon take over the Mirage, but the casino will be completely revamped with a brand new baccarat lounge, new slots, and dozens of new table games.
Gambling is what keeps the neon lights on and always will. Travelers who come here should expect a top-notch, fun experience at any casino in Vegas because the guest experience is always a top priority.
Some of the smaller towns outside of Vegas may be more affordable but don’t come close to providing guests with the same quality of facilities.
Vegas Is Growing
The Strip will always be where travelers come together like moths to a light bulb. But as Vegas grows, new areas of the city are being highlighted.
Take the newest neighborhood in Las Vegas, located roughly 10 miles away from the Strip. The UnCommons development is opening trendy new restaurants, and the new Durango Resort and Casino is slated to open in the fall.
Dozens of restaurants are in the works, with some from James Beard award-winning chefs. Those who need an escape from the busy Strip or Fremont Street will love coming here.
Vegas Is For Every Type Of Traveler
Vegas welcomes everyone. You can come here and blend in with any type of crowd. Every type of traveler will find their niche.
Solo travelers, families, couples, honeymooners, newlyweds, and soon-to-be-newlyweds who have an impromptu drive-through wedding from an Elvis impersonator, you name it.
There are so many activities and attractions that it would almost be impossible not to have fun. Whether it’s going to a destination-themed hotel pretending you’re in another part of the world or riding the largest Ferris wheel in North America, Vegas has it all and everything in between.
Vegas Is Now A Sports Hub
Not long ago, there wasn’t a single professional sports team in the city. Now there are two teams, along with rumors of a baseball team coming in the near future.
Vegas has always drawn a crowd, but now those crowds are filling up arenas and stadiums for the Las Vegas Raiders and recent Stanley Cup Champion Las Vegas Golden Knights.
If all goes according to plan, the Oakland A’s may soon be the Las Vegas A’s, too.
