Until February 16, customers can get discounted tickets starting at $18

The National Railroad Passenger Corporation in the United States, Amtrak, announced on their media center another ticket promotion for Valentine’s Day: the “Amtrak Loves You Sale”.

Until February 16, customers can buy one ticket and bring a companion for free. The travel must take place on any date available from March 1 till August 31 of the present year, for the destinations and seats included on the sale.

The offer is similar to the one promoted last year, but with even better prices! When purchasing the tickets, travelers must enter the promo code “V214” at checkout—on the official website or the Amtrak App—. Both tickets should be included in the same reservation, and both adults should travel together.

Of course, this offer isn’t only for romantic couples, Amtrak wants to celebrate all kinds of love: best friends, siblings, and significant others are all welcome and can start planning their next trip right away! This promotion reflects the company’s recent efforts to make train travel in the United States an enjoyable and trendy transportation method again.

Amtrak has also recently invested billions of dollars to modernize its trains and provide a safer service during the pandemic, encouraging more travelers to use their trains.

Choose Your Romantic Destination

The fares vary according to the destination and the train, but customers can purchase 2 tickets for as low as $18. Travelers must choose an adult fare, a ticket for Coach travel, or Acela Business Class (in the Northeast), in one of the national routes available.

These are some of the destination options for passengers; with tickets starting as low as:

  • New York  – Philadelphia for $18 and $51 on Acela.
  • Chicago – Milwaukee for $25.
  • Boston – New York for $29 and $69 on Acela.
  • Washington, DC  – Atlanta for $106.
  • Los Angeles  –  Seattle for $101.
  • Philadelphia  –  Washington for $18 and $57 on Acela.
  • Charlotte – New York for $101.
  • Oklahoma City – Fort Worth for $31.

  • New York – Providence for $25 and $66 on Acela.
  • Albany – New York for $36.
  • Philadelphia – Savannah for $112.

It is recommended to all travelers to review all state-specific coronavirus restrictions before purchasing, and carefully read Terms and Conditions. After buying the tickets, the fare is non-refundable, it can only be exchanged—when requested in advance.

Covid-19 Considerations

In order to comply with the security and health recommendations, Amtrak has been improving its technology and services to guarantee safety and up-to-date service.

Travelers can verify changes and current rules on Amtrak’s website. At the moment, passengers must wear masks at all times —face coverings can be removed briefly, only while drinking or eating—, even if they are vaccinated.

Only children under 2 years old can travel without a mask. Also, proof of vaccination is required in the Metropolitan Lounge—available in major cities— for every passenger over 12 years old.

According to the company’s latest updates, the use of the Amtrak App is highly encouraged, to reduce physical contact and get updated status and relevant notifications such as boarding gate and track information.

Amtrak’s New Travel Experience and Vision

The railroad company has been improving its services recently. Last year, Amtrak invested $7.3 billion into new modern trains to attract more travelers across the US, and announced the expansion of its network to 39 new routes, connecting over 160 communities.

Amtrak also shared a 15-year vision report in May 2021,  providing more details on its vision, mission, and future projections which considered the modernization of its services, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and linking more cities across the country.

The “Amtrak Loves You Sale” marketing strategy goes along with the company’s vision to “better serve the nation”, get more travelers, provide a modern service and create new travel opportunities.
