It was announced yesterday March 17, 2022, fully vaccinated travelers – including citizens from the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom – can now enter Cambodia without any Covid testing requirements. They can just enter test-free and quarantine-free.
Having dropped the quarantine requirements – for visitors that are fully vaccinated – towards the end of last year (November, 2021), Cambodia has now made entry for those that have received their full vaccination extremely simple.
So, What Were Travelers Previously Required To Do In Order To Enter Cambodia?
Up until yesterday (17 March), visitors – classified as fully vaccinated – who wanted to visit Cambodia were required to:
- take a Covid-19 PCR test no more than 72 hours before your departure
- undergo a Covid-19 rapid test (ATK) upon arrival into the country
- obtain a visa prior to your arrival – by applying online for an E-visa
- purchase health insurance which covers the cost of Covid-19 medical expenses.
What Are The New Entry Requirements For Fully Vaccinated Travelers Wanting To Visit Cambodia?
Following yesterday’s announcement by the country’s Ministry of Health – that fully vaccinated travelers are no longer required to undergo any testing before, or after, their arrival into Cambodia – there are in fact no other entry requirements for such visitors other than:
- showing proof on entry that you have received your full vaccination against Covid-19.
The Cambodian Ministry of Health has, however, encouraged travelers to take a self-ATK test prior to their departure to the country as a precautionary measure.
Cambodia Reinstates Their Visa on Arrival (VoA) Scheme
Travelers can also – once again – obtain a visa on arrival (VoA), which for many months had been suspended due to the country’s ongoing Covid-19 restrictions.
It is now possible to be granted this visa whether you are arriving into the country by air, land or water.
You can still also obtain a visa prior to your arrival – by applying online using Cambodia’s E-visa website. The cost for both the visa on arrival – and E-visa – is US$30 – however – there is an additional processing fee of US$6 if you purchase an E-visa online.
Both visas – which are for single entry only – allow visitors to stay in the country for up to 30 days, with it possible to extend your stay by a further 30 days when inside the country for an additional cost of between US$30-50.
Can You Enter Cambodia As A Tourist If You Are Not Fully Vaccinated?
Yes, you can visit Cambodia for tourism purposes even if you are not fully vaccinated against Covid-19. However, you will be required to:
- quarantine for 14 days upon your arrival into the country – with the location designated by the Cambodian Ministry of Health
- undergo a Covid-19 PCR test on day 13 of your quarantine.
Individuals that have tested positive for Covid-19 – in the previous 12 months – are unable to use a proof of recovery certificate to enter Cambodia, and will therefore need to follow the entry requirements based on whether they are fully vaccinated or not.
