Spirit Announces Three New Nonstop Flights To Las Vegas Starting At $65

The American ultra-low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines announced in a press release this Wednesday that the company will expand in August with three new services connecting to Las Vegas: Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ) in New Mexico, Boise Airport (BOI) in Idaho, and Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) in Nevada.

Travelers can already start to book flights for the summer season to the new destinations. Tickets start at $65 one way on selected dates.

Spirit Airlines is already the second-largest carrier in Las Vegas, and will soon become —after merging with Frontier— the fifth biggest airline in the United States. Its most recent expansions prove the company is preparing to broaden.

John Kirby, Vice President of Network Planning at Spirit Airlines, said: “Announcing three new markets is an exciting milestone for Spirit Airlines and our Guests as we deliver more high-value options for travel between the bright lights of Vegas and the huge variety of beautiful places to visit in New Mexico, Idaho, and Northern Nevada.”

The news also comes as a celebration of the carrier’s 20 year anniversary serving Las Vegas. With the three new flights starting in August, Spirit will be providing 41 nonstop services from this city, almost a 30% increase per year.

Chris Jones, Harry Reid International Airport Chief Marketing Officer, also expressed his enthusiasm about the opportunities Spirit is providing travelers: “We look forward to soon welcoming even more visitors from Reno, Boise, and Albuquerque. These are three great markets within our region, each of which should show two-way demand among vacationers, sports fans, students, and business travelers.”

Starting in April, Spirit will begin launching the new routes —including two services previously announced to Memphis (MEM) and Salt Lake City (SLC)— to a total of 5 new routes connecting to Las Vegas in August.

About The New Itineraries

The new service connecting Alburquerque to Las Vegas will be launched on August 3 and will offer travelers daily flights. According to  Richard McCurley, Director of Aviation for the City of Albuquerque, Spirit’s decision to enter the market with this route is a reflection of the travelers from New Mexico’s needs.

The new route to Boise will also serve daily flights and the launch will take place on August 5.  Rebecca Hupp, Boise Airport Director, also shared excitement about the new route for the summer and said: “Adding daily service on a low-cost carrier will allow more BOI passengers access to the endless allures and attractions of Las Vegas.”

The last new route, connecting Reno to Las Vegas, will start operating on August 10 with a higher frequency: twice a day. Shaun Carey, Chairman of the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority said that this new itinerary was “great news for northern Nevada” and that more people wanting to explore the region will now have more possibilities.

The Spirit Experience

Spirit Airlines keeps demonstrating to be a powerful competitor and the company’s low prices. A few weeks ago, the carrier also announced its expansion to Mexico with two new services connecting Monterrey to Austin and Houston, Texas.

The carrier is currently flying to 54 domestic and 33 international destinations, and travelers can expect more services soon, and, of course, for a very low price. On their “Deals” section on their website, customers can see the current offers like a flight from Fort Lauderdale to New York for $31 one way.

Like most low-cost carriers, many services like checked bags, snacks and drinks, and inflight entertainment are not included. Spirit Airlines is now offering inflight Wi-fi in the majority of its fleet with different prices depending on the guest plan and destination.

Frequent travelers can also join the Saver$ Club and get benefits like exclusive fares, special deals on bags, better seats for a better price, and shortcut options before boarding.
