Mexico offers perhaps the best beaches in North America. Sure, there are some amazing beach getaways in the States, but Mexico is truly paradise.
A recent report revealed the top 3 destinations in Mexico, with Americans leading the way as the country’s number one tourist demographic.
Out of those 3 awesome cities, 2 of them are Mexico’s finest beach spots – Cancun and Los Cabos. However, this city south of Cancun is taking the Mexican Caribbean by storm in the best of ways.
Travelers simply can’t wait to head to Tulum this winter. Consistently gaining popularity over the years, this stunning region of Mexico is the trendiest spot in the country this winter.
With gorgeous beaches, picture-perfect cenotes, and endless activities, it’s no wonder Tulum has become a mega-popular getaway.
Not Your Average Beach Town
Tulum is a travel hotspot largely in part because it offers the same breathtaking scenery as many of Mexico’s other top destinations while also embracing being different.
If your idea of a Mexican beach vacation is sipping margaritas at the hotel pool with no plans of leaving, then Tulum may not be for you.
Although, it’s easy to see how tempting that is to escape the frigid winter weather back home. However, once you discover this dazzling city, you may change how your ideal vacation looks.
Here, tourists will find a wide range of art, both visual and culinary, through its many galleries and restaurants.
Many festivals take place in the area, which brings in huge crowds. In other words, Tulum is a place to be explored with so many captivating sights.
Fascinating Mayan Culture
There are plenty of cool places to see historical ruins in Mexico, yet Tulum may top them all. A must when visiting this city is exploring the vast jungle to bear witness to amazing preserved Mayan structures.
Travelers will notice Mayan touchstones throughout the city, whether it’s subtle decor or resort themes.
This region is proud of its heritage, and tourists will love learning more about how Tulum came to be what it is now.
The best way to do just that is by seeing it for yourself. Year after year, hoards of tourists love visiting such places as El Castilo, which just happens to be a perfect photo-op for the ‘gram.
Hippie Vibes
Tourists tend to appreciate the Bohemian nature of Tulum. We should all be in touch with our innie hippie, right?
Sometimes letting our hair down and walking barefoot on the grass is just what the doctor ordered. Here may be the perfect place to fuel your soul with a plethora of activities in nature.
In fact, Forbes named Tulum the ‘World Capital of Yoga’. You don’t have to spend your whole bank account putting your well-being first in Tulum, as you might in a place like Cabo.
Even Tulum’s wellness industry includes Mayan rituals as part of the healing process to invigorate your mind, body and soul with indigenous practices, such as a traditional Temazcal ceremony.
While simply getting a massage at a nice resort is great, Tulum intertwines its fascinating culture into health services, making for an unforgettable wellness experience.
Highly Anticipated Maya Train And New Airport
Johnny Cash famously sang in one of his biggest hits, I hear the train a comin’, it’s rolling round the bend
and I ain’t seen the sunshine since I don’t know when.
That’s how winter travelers feel with the highly anticipated Tren Maya opening in less than 2 months. What better way to escape the winter cold and explore this sunny region of Mexico?
The Tulum train station was recently revealed, and what a beaut! Tulum is expected to be one of the most popular stops along the new route connecting major cities in the states of Campeche, Chiapas, Yucatan, Tabasco, and Quintana Roo.
With 30 stops and just under 1,000 miles of tracks, this is the most exciting new way to experience such a beautiful country.
Tulum is not only going to be more popular than the new train. The city is also opening a brand new airport in the same month.
Both the train and airport have expected opening dates in December 2023.
