Are you looking for an affordable sunny getaway in the U.S. this winter?
This popular destination ranks number one for the cheapest flights and hotels!
According to recent data from Priceline, there are several destinations in the U.S. where travelers can score great deals on flights and hotels this winter.
But the number one spot for budget-friendly travel is located in sunny Florida.
The Orlando area scores best for both cheap flights and cheap hotels this winter.
Cheap Flights To Orlando
Domestic flights to Orlando have the lowest average cost out of any destination in the United States. Since Orlando is one of the top vacation destinations in the country, travelers have abundant flight options to choose from.
Nearly 100 cities in the U.S. have nonstop flights to Orlando, and almost every single U.S. airline serves Orlando, making it one of the most well-connected destinations in the country.
Because of this, you can score great deals on airfare to Orlando.
According to Priceline, the average cost for a round-trip flight to Orlando is just $213 this December, making it the cheapest destination to fly to.
Cheap Hotels Near Orlando
Not only can you find cheap flights to Orlando, but you can also find great deals on hotels this winter.
The trick? Don’t stay in Orlando, stay in Kissimmee. Kissimmee is located just south of Orlando, so it’s a convenient place to base yourself, and hotels are significantly cheaper.
Based on data from Priceline, a hotel in Kissimmee will run you about $128 a night in December.
Kissimmee is located less than 30 minutes from Orlando International Airport, Walt Disney World, and Universal Orlando, so you’ll still be close to the area’s top attractions.
Saving Money On Attractions In Orlando
It’s no secret that theme parks are the main draw for travelers in Orlando. Whether you’re young or old, visiting Walt Disney World or Universal Orlando is a blast.
However, theme park ticket prices have steadily increased in recent years, along with the price of food and other add-ons in the parks.
A one-day ticket for Disney World can run you as much as $189 during the peak season (especially around busy holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas), while Universal maxes out at $179.
Fortunately, there are ways to save on a theme park vacation to Orlando.
Booking multi-day tickets works out to be much cheaper, and both Disney World and Universal often offer promotions such as a fourth day free when you book a three-day ticket.
Both theme parks also utilize date-based pricing, with dates around the holidays being the most expensive this winter. If you can travel at a less popular time (like the first or second week of January) you can save money on tickets.
And finally, avoid pricy park-hopper add-ons. Sticking to just one park per day is much cheaper than adding the ability to park-hop.
Other Cheap Things To Do In Orlando
Aside from visiting Disney World and Universal, there are lots of free or cheap things to do in Orlando.
Disney Springs and Universal CityWalk are two great destinations. Both are free and don’t require theme park admission, and both offer a multitude of shopping, dining, entertainment, and activities.
Both Disney and Universal also have water parks that are significantly cheaper than visiting the main theme parks. Since the weather is warm in Orlando year-round, this is an option even in the winter.
There’s also plenty to do in Orlando beyond theme parks. The city is home to some great museums, as well as family-friendly attractions like WonderWorks and Ripley’s Believe It Or Not.
