Where are most travelers headed in 2024? These are the trendiest destinations around the world according to TripAdvisor.

TripAdvisor surveyed travelers and found that these international destinations are the up-and-coming hotspots at the top of many travel wishlists.

If you need some inspiration planning your own 2024 travels, check out these trending destinations.

1. Cuba

Cuba is the number one trending destination for the new year. This beautiful destination hasn’t always been easy to visit, though.

The country was largely closed off to Americans for more than half a century before tourism became possible again in 2015. However, the country closed to tourists again in 2020, and many flights from the U.S. to Cuba were only restored in 2023.

There are a few things you need to know before traveling to Cuba that make it trickier than visiting many other destinations, but it’s absolutely worth it.

From the colorful capital city of Havana to the beaches of Varadero to the countryside of Viñales, this is a stunning country that deserves a spot on your travel bucket list.

2. Hoi An

Hoi An, Vietnam is another one of the trendiest destinations for travelers right now.

Vietnam is swiftly becoming more popular with American tourists thanks to its breathtaking natural beauty, vibrant culture, delicious food, affordable prices, and great cities.

Hoi An is one of the best cities in Vietnam, famous for its well-preserved Ancient Town and its unique blend of multiple cultural influences, from Chinese to French.

3. Mauritius

If you’re looking for a unique tropical getaway in 2024, forget the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.

Mauritius is poised to become one of the hottest beach destinations of the year. While this island nation in East Africa remains something of a hidden gem, it won’t stay that way for long.

Not only does Mauritius boast stunning beaches, gorgeous resorts, and lush natural beauty, but it’s also a surprisingly great base for digital nomads.

4. Siem Reap

Another hotspot in Southeast Asia that is growing in popularity with travelers is Siem Reap, Cambodia. Much like neighboring Vietnam, Cambodia is a destination filled with diverse beauty, culture, and history.

Siem Reap is a destination that is best known for being the gateway to Angkor Wat, a massive and ancient temple complex that is more than 900 years old.

In addition to being a great destination, Siem Reap is also one of the cheapest destinations to visit this winter, so you’ll get plenty of value for your money.

5. Chiang Mai

One more Southeast Asia destination on this list is Chiang Mai, Thailand. Thailand is a country known for many things, including beautiful beaches and islands and a vibrant capital city, Bangkok.

Chiang Mai is a smaller city in the mountainous northern part of the country. You can visit stunning temples, sample delicious (and cheap!) street food, and use the city as a base for taking motorbike tours around the northern part of Thailand, visiting destinations like the charming town of Pai.

Additionally, Chiang Mai was named one of the best destinations for digital nomads in 2024.

6. Grand Cayman

Grand Cayman, the largest of the Cayman Islands, is the perfect place to go for a winter beach vacation in the Caribbean next year.

This island is known for being one of the best in the Caribbean when it comes to scuba diving, with tons of great dive sites to explore. It’s also home to stunning beaches, like the famous Seven Mile Beach.

7. Fes

Finally, Fes is one of the top trending destinations in the world for 2024. It’s one of the best places to visit in Morocco, a country that has broken its all-time tourism record in 2023, despite the effects of a devastating earthquake earlier this year.

Fes, which is located in the northeastern part of the country, is known for being the cultural capital of Morocco. It’s home to a gorgeous walled medina, vibrant souks, and medieval architecture.
