The Gambia Experience is delighted to share the success of its first birding tours led by celebrity wildlife TV presenter and photographer, Megan McCubbin. Taking place from January 23rd to 30th, 2024, these exclusive and immersive experiences provided birding enthusiasts with an extra special opportunity to explore The Gambia’s diverse avian treasures under Megan’s expert guidance, alongside the acclaimed Gambian guide, Malick Suso. Malick, who recently received the esteemed Wanderlust World Guide Award for his expertise in birding and safari tours, brought an additional layer of insight to the experience.

Set against the backdrop of the picturesque Bakotu Hotel, overlooking the serene Kotu Creek, participants embarked on either a three or four-night journey, each with meticulously curated itineraries designed to showcase The Gambia’s most coveted birding hotspots. From majestic kingfishers to elusive nightjars, the tours provided unparalleled opportunities to encounter and appreciate the rich diversity of birdlife that thrives within the country’s lush landscapes.

Megan McCubbin, whose passion for wildlife and conservation has propelled her career as a prominent figure in the field, expressed her delight in leading these tours, stating, “The Gambia holds a special place in my heart, and I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to share my love for its incredible birdlife with fellow enthusiasts.
