Spring is an amazing time for travel – the weather gets warmer, prices come back down to Earth after the holiday frenzy, and destination options become virtually endless.
As the saying goes, though, with great power comes great responsibility, and picking just one place out of hundreds of possible alternatives can often feel paralyzing.
This is when a data-backed suggestion can come in handy, and luckily, Global Rescue just came out with its newest report on the travel destinations Americans are loving the most right now (and chances are you will, too).
The findings can help us finally answer a burning question – have timeless classics managed to hold onto their status, or have new, trendier hotspots started to overtake them instead?
Spain
OK, you might’ve seen this one coming.
Spain just broke its all-time tourism record, and U.S. travelers, in particular, are flocking to the warm European country like never before.
People can’t seem to get enough of the iconic cityscape dominated by Madrid and Barcelona, dreamy countryside, and gold-sanded beaches, which will start welcoming tourists and locals alike anytime now.
Whether you’re a culture enthusiast eager to explore the arts scene in Valencia, a foodie who can’t wait to enjoy the food in Seville, or just someone curious to see some of Europe’s greatest wonders, a trip to Spain this year promises to deliver exactly what want and more.
Japan
While you don’t need me to convince you that Japan is one of the coolest destinations on Earth, the fact that it just topped Tripadvisor’s list of the top trending destinations of 2024 just proves that its status as one of the most coveted countries in the world isn’t going away anytime soon.
What’s more, Japan has just introduced a brand new digital nomad visa, welcoming remote workers (well, at least a select few of them), with open arms.
Even if the idea of experiencing the bustling streets of Tokyo, the traditional tea houses of Kyoto, and the tantalizing food of Osaka isn’t enough to get you to immediately re-locate to Japan, you can always take advantage of the fact that now is the best time to visit the Asian country and see what it feels like to see the wonders you’ve heard so much about firsthand.
Argentina
While South America’s sole (and proud) entry in today’s list might come as a surprise to some, those who’ve been keeping up to date with travel news know that there’s a lot to love about this gorgeous, criminally underrated country.
First of all, the Argentinian peso has experienced a very, very drastic drop these past few years, making now one of the best times in history for U.S. travelers to visit the South American country without straining their budget – you have no idea how much your dollar can stretch here.
Beyond being cheap, though, Argentina is also remarkably safe and a haven for digital nomads, which just speaks to how great the local amenities and overall quality of life can be – what more could you ask from such a reasonably priced hotspot?
And I’m not even going to get into the endless array of natural and cultural wonders to explore here, from the breathtaking beauty of Patagonia to the cosmopolitan charm of Buenos Aires.
Italy
What I’m about to say might be a bit controversial, but I truly believe that when it comes to tourism allure and attraction density, Italy is unparalleled.
You know how some countries have one very famous hotpot and you barely know anything about what goes on anywhere else?
Well, the opposite is true with Italy.
There are so many places to see, things to do, and experiences to enjoy, that you’ll be spoiled for choice, which can be both a blessing and a curse.
Yes, your itinerary will be full, but the decision-making process is far from over once you say “I’m going to Italy.”
Will you be exploring the ancient charm of Rome, the romantic canals of Venice, the awe-inspiring architecture of Milan, the art-filled streets of Florence, the famous pizzerias of Napoli, the vast vineyards of Tuscany, or the striking beaches of Capri?
Greece
Greece’s rise as one of the trendiest destinations on Earth has been phenomenal to witness, but long overdue.
Here, you won’t only find some of the most fascinating cities and stunning natural landscapes but also what I personally consider to be the most gorgeous beaches in all of Europe, so come summertime, I’d highly recommend booking a trip to Zakynthos, Lefkada, or Halkidiki.
