So many other destinations tend to hog the spotlight when it comes to Europe, but why not take a trip to Ireland?
Well, travelers are answering that question as we speak since the latest statistics show Dublin is booming this summer.
Ireland as a whole is lovely to visit. Teeming with fairytale castles, underrated coastlines, and charming towns throughout, but it’s Dublin that will likely be your first stop.
This capital city, home to incredible castles and a phenomenal food scene, is all the rage right now, but there are some important things you should be aware of before planning your trip.
Americans Taking Advantage Of New Flights
Dublin saw over 3 million butts in seats come through Dublin Airport in May.
We all know how easy it is to hop around Europe, so these numbers don’t imply it’s mostly Americans flocking here.
However, a pair of new direct flights from the U.S. is surely helping.
Not to mention the plethora of others making Dublin one of the easiest, and quickest, European cities to reach from mainland USA.
Recently, new flights were launched from both Denver and Minneapolis with reports backing up these routes are already taking off.
Even if Dublin isn’t your first stop, Europe is so connected that Dublin, among other Irish gems, can be effortlessly reached for castle-hopping, underrated cuisines, and of course, a pint of local brew.
Pubs And Grubs
Dublin may not come to mind as a foodie destination when considering your next Euro trip, but it will rock your socks off.
Of course, when it comes to Dublin, or Ireland in general, you have to factor in the beer scene as well.
If there’s one thing that holds true for most Americans, it’s that we have no idea what to do with a Guinness.
We’re too accustomed to seeing if the mountains have turned blue on our cheap beer cans.
Dublin will change that as grabbing a pint at a local pub is more than just a way to cure boredom; it’s a tightly-held pastime tradition still very common today.

Dublin can trace its origin to over a 1000-year span. As such, there are some incredible sites to behold that stand the test of time.
Of course, long held traditions aren’t tangible, but there are plenty to go around. Visiting castles on the other hand is one of the best ways to get a glimpse of what life used to be like as these incredible sites are just left for storybooks nowadays.
Dublin is home to an array of stunning castles to take you back in time, but even more so, this awesome city makes for an excellent gateway to go beyond the city limits and witness even more stunning castles.
Dublin itself does offer a variety of other historical sites to visit, such as the famous St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Christ Church Cathedral and all the insightful artifacts of the The National Museum of Ireland.

The good news is Dublin is still affordable to reach this summer, hence the summer surge already being seen.
If you’re planning an epic European trip this winter filled with winter wonderlands and Christmas markets, Dublin may not be the place for you due to a limit on the number of passengers allowed at Dublin Airport.
Currently, a passenger cap allows only 32 million passengers to pass through the airport annually, though according to the CEO of RyanAir, the airport should be capable of handling closer to 60 million passengers per year. Learn more about the debate here.
