Where do you travel now that summer’s officially coming to an end?
Do you try to stretch the season and go somewhere beachy? Do you go into full city tripper mode and opt for a big metropolis instead? Or do you change gears altogether and fly somewhere wild and adventurous?
Well, luckily for all my fellow indecisive travelers out there, you don’t have to choose quite yet.
Brazil offers all of that and more, which is why this past summer saw an unprecedented number of tourists eager to experience the stunning country in all its glory.
And if you, too, are tempted to see what the hype is all about, I come bearing good news.
This Month You Can Fly To Brazil And Back For Just $358
If you feel like you’ve missed out by not going to Brazil with everyone else this summer, don’t.
This is one of those rare times when procrastination might have done you good since plane ticket prices between the US and the Latin American country just reached their yearly low—round-trip flights start at just $355.
Avianca, the largest Colombian airline (which has also come out with several exciting new routes lately, by the way), is offering its Fort Lauderdale – Sao Paolo flights for just a little over $170 each way this September.
And sure, if you’re departing or landing in other airports, you might have to pay a bit more, but the average round-trip still shouldn’t cost you more than $600-something – considering where you’re going and how much you’d spend any other time of the year for the same exact tickets, that’s a steal!
The Weather Is To Die For
Brazil is known for its hot tropical climate, which is why most people planning their first trip often assume that there’s little need to worry about the weather.
Once you actually get here, though, you’ll see that the climate is much more varied and temperamental than you might’ve guessed – in some regions, summers can get excruciatingly hot, while in others, temperatures start to fall way sooner than you’d think.
If you’re planning a trip these upcoming weeks, though, you have nothing to worry about.
The weather in Brazil this time of year is, in my humble opinion, at its peak.
Big cities like Rio and São Paulo enjoy a comfortable 63°F to 82°F (17°C to 28°C) range, Brasilia retains a bit of summer with temperatures that fluctuate between 66°F and 88°F (19°C and 31°C), while Northern Brazil (where you can go on tours of the Amazon Rainforest) has officially welcomed its dry season, so you won’t have to worry about storms and heavy rain ruining your plans.
You Can Find A Great Hotel For Less Than $50 A Night Almost Anywhere
Not only will you get to take advantage of some amazing airfare deals if you decide to visit Brazil this season, but you’ll get to save tons on accommodation, too.
With the busy summer season slowly coming to an end, the already reasonable prices are getting lower, and it’s become surprisingly easy to find highly-rated hotels for under $60 a night – and yes, I’m talking about all the big touristy cities, too.
Depending on where, exactly, you’re going, I’d recommend:
- Capcana Hotel in São Paolo ($55 a night with complimentary breakfast)
- Hotel Atlantico Business in Rio de Janeiro ($32 with complimentary breakfast)
- Alugueasy – Hotel Cullinan in Brasilia ($50 a night)
There’s Lots Going On In Brazil Right Now
So we’ve got quite a few months to go before the next Carnival – that doesn’t mean you should postpone your Brazil trip until February, though, there’s plenty to see and experience in the country as we speak.
On September 7th Brazil celebrates its Independence Day with the most incredible parades and festivities, and trust me when I say it all lives up to the hype.
For those hoping to go a bit later, try to time your trip so that you get to experience either Rock in Rio (September 13th – September 22nd), the Rio Film Festival (October 3rd – October 13th), or Oktoberfest Blumenau (October 9th – October 27th).
I’ve even got something for those who’ve already been to Brazil but desperately want to try something new.
Foodies will fall in love with all the newly-opened restaurants, of which Oseille and Jacó are definitely my favorites.
As far as hotels go, this year has brought plenty of new amazing places to stay throughout the country, with Estação Sé Hotel, Residencial Santa Clara, and Star Hospedaria being some of the most highly reviewed.
