Paris is the city of love, right? Perhaps not anymore! 

And the good news is that American travelers won’t have to go far to visit the world’s new most romantic destination.  

A new study of American travelers conducted by Talker Research found that Maui in Hawaii was voted as the new top romantic travel destination, winning 34% of the votes.

That’s a full percentage point higher than Paris, which secured 33% of the vote.  

So why is a trip to Maui considered so romantic? And what does Maui have to offer that the official city of love doesn’t?  

Beautiful And Romantic Beaches  

Maui may not have the Eiffel Tower but it does boast some of the world’s best beaches.

And 55% of Americans think going for a walk on the beach is the most romantic thing you can do on vacation.  

Makena State Park Beach

Maui is home to over 30 miles of beaches. Some of the best on the island include Makena Beach State Park’s big and little beaches.

This is the most iconic as well as the most photographed beach on the island.  

If you love watersports, then try Honolua Bay.

This is a sought-after beach for snorkeling and surfing, making it a great choice for couples with a strong sense of adventure.  

For something a little more off the beaten path, try Palauea Beach, which is much more popular with locals than with tourists.

So, if you want to try something a little different and escape the crowds, then this will best suit your needs.

Note that because this beach isn’t on the tourist radar, it isn’t set up for tourists like the other beaches on this list.

You won’t find either toilets or shower facilities here.

As well as its beautiful beaches, Maui is also famous for its verdant landscapes, lush rainforests, waterfalls, and mountains.

Volcanic Haleakala is the island’s highest peak and is popular with hikers.

Perhaps Maui’s most beautiful natural attractions are its epic waterfalls. The most famous of these are the Wailua Falls, which are actually three waterfalls sitting side by side.

Hawaii Tours offers a waterfall and rainforest hiking tour on the island. In addition to seeing the falls, you can swim in them and jump into the waters from rock ledges, making it a great trip for thrill seekers. The tour costs $159 per person.

Hawaii is America’s honeymoon capital, so it makes sense that there would be an abundance of hotels and resorts perfect for romance on the island.
