With air travel ramping up, Air France looks to welcome back American travelers by adding new routes to their spring and summer schedule.
Air France To Resume Routes
With the anticipation of summer vacationers, Air France announced this week that they will begin resuming three long-haul routes that were previously flown prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Americans looking to travel to the “City of Light” will now have new flight options and choices.
The first flight is set to launch on March 27th between John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York direct to Paris Orly Airport. This flight will operate daily throughout the week.
On that same day, Air France will resume flights between Charles de Gaulle Airport and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. This flight will run five times weekly between this Texas metropolitan area and the romantic city of Paris.
The last route that will resume service is a direct flight from Denver International Airport to Charles de Gaulle. This seasonal route is set to launch on May 4th, and will run three times a week to the capital city of Denver.
A Summer of Travel
Air France is set to fly to 14 destinations around the United States this summer and offer nearly 200 flights weekly. This is more than a 20% increase in flights offered compared to the summer of 2019, which was pre-pandemic.
The other airports in the U.S. that Air France will jet to this summer are:
- Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport
- Boston Logan International Airport
- Chicago O’Hare International Airport
- Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport
- Denver International Airport
- Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport
- George Bush Intercontinental Airport
- Los Angeles International Airport
- Miami International Airport
- Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport
- New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport
- San Francisco International Airport
- Seattle-Tacoma International Airport
- Washington D.C.’s Dulles International Airport
Each of these airports offer flights direct to Paris’s Charles de Gaulle Airport, except for JFK, which gives passengers the extra option of flying into either Charles de Gaulle or Paris Orly Airport.
In addition, to ease the stress caused by the various rules and restrictions, Air France announced that their “Ready to Fly” service will now be available on all flights to and from the U.S. This service allows passengers to request and receive confirmation that they have all the required health documents prior to their trip.
Travel Restrictions in France
Before booking that flight to France, be prepared to face possible COVID-19 entry rules. Currently, U.S. Citizens ARE allowed to enter, but with certain regulations. Fully vaccinated travelers must present proof of vaccination and a negative COVID-19 test (PCR or antigen) within 48 hours prior to departure for France. Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated travelers must provide a compelling reason for travel, and a negative COVID-19 test (PCR or antigen) 48 hours prior to departure. These unvaccinated travelers will also be tested again upon arrival, and must self-isolate for seven days. After seven days they must take a PCR test once again.
Note: As of February 1st, French authorities require travelers 18 and over to receive a booster dose no later than 9 months after the second dose.
Lastly, travelers looking to see the famous sights such as the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower will need to apply for the French Vaccine Pass. This pass is required to enter many public locations including museums, restaurants, sporting events, and numerous other locations around the country. Beginning February 15th, the Vaccine Pass also requires proof of a booster dose within four months of the final dose.
