“Bow-wow” factor from an uber pet-friendly North Norfolk cottage

‘No dogs on the beds’, ‘no pets on the sofa!’ and even ‘no dogs allowed in the garden’ are unfortunate familiar war cries of supposedly pet friendly holiday cottages in idyllic UK locations. In fact, many dog owners who want to holiday with their beloved pooches are often met with a whole host of austere rules for them and their canine best friends. Not the best start to a much awaited family holiday.

However, a super-dog-friendly property in the beautiful village of Trunch on the picturesque North Norfolk coast, claims to be throwing away the rule book and change all of that.

The picture perfect, flint-fronted ‘Ha’penny Cottage’ (www.hapennycottage.com) promises a warm, friendly welcome for up to 4 pooches free of charge, whilst also retaining an air of luxury and in a first class location too. Even the local pub, not even a 5 minute stroll away, loves its pet patrons.

Owners Sue and Sean Flynn, from Yorkshire, were regular holiday makers with their two West Highland White Terriers and felt that many properties were only ‘dog tolerating’ rather than genuinely ‘dog welcoming’. The couple, who also have rental experience with holiday homes in Turkey, set about creating a holiday rental which combines coastal luxury whilst also providing a fido friendly haven. In short, Ha’penny Cottage offers the ideal combination of picture perfect rustic charm and the contemporary comforts pets and their paw parents pine for. The stunning, blue flag Mundesley Beach, also dog friendly, is only a 5 minute drive away.

This architect-designed Ha’penny Cottage sleeps 4 in 2 bright bedrooms, has a light and airy open plan design complete with cosy wood burner, squishy sofas on which people and pets can comfortably relax. The, underfloor heated, textured slate floors make it easy for dogs to walk on easily without slipping!

Even though the cottage is in a chocolate box village, the hoomans can still even enjoy full connectivity with super fast broadband, great for anyone working from home. But, it’s the secure garden, with its furnished patio, 6 foot fence and no escape route out, which is the real draw for dogs and ‘pet pawrents’.

Cottage owner, Sue Flynn said, “Just because people are travelling with their pets whether it’s Dachsund or a Dalmation, they deserve to be able to stay in a wonderful property in a perfect pooch-friendly location. We are delighted to welcome up to 3 dogs free or more on request, so that visitors don’t have to compromise on style or facilities. See www.hapennycottage.com for further information.

A week at Ha’penny Cottage in May is £995 per week including up to 4 dogs free. The price is for up to 4 people, 4 dogs and includes a generous human welcome pack, doggy welcone pack, all cleaning and linens, towels, dog throws, dog towels, dog toys etc.
