Curaçao has become the latest country around the world to remove most of its Covid-19 restrictions. Effective as of today, the Caribbean nation – famed for its gorgeous beaches, colorful and interesting architecture and diverse culture – has not only removed several of its Covid-19 related entry restrictions, but also most of its local, social restrictions, instantly making visiting the country both easier and more attractive to international travelers.
In doing so, Curaçao has become the latest of several Caribbean nations to ease its entry restrictions over the past few days – but it still has some remnants of its Covid-19 entry requirements in place that travelers will need to be aware of before booking their trips. Here’s a look at what the island nation has removed, and which restrictions are set to remain a little while longer – plus what travelers visiting the country can look forward to.
Entry Restrictions Eased – Information For Travelers
In news that is bound to delight travelers, Curaçao has made sweeping changes to its Covid-19 related entry requirements that have made travel to the country easier for everyone. Perhaps the most significant change that the country has made is regarding its pre-travel Covid-19 testing requirements. Curaçao has revealed that travelers no longer have to take a Covid-19 test prior to their arrival in the country.
The removal of the need to test is immediate, coming into effect from today (March 10th), and applies to all travelers that are heading to Curaçao. That means that regardless of a traveler’s country of origin or vaccination status, no travelers heading to Curaçao will be required to present a negative Covid-19 test beforehand – saving travelers both money, time and worry in the process.
Curaçao has also made sweeping changes to its local and social Covid-19 restrictions. The country has removed its mask mandate, with travelers now free to wander its beaches and towns without a mask, with masks now only required in either a hospital or when using public transport. Since the turn of the new year, more and more countries have been removing their mask mandates, including the likes of Norway and the US.
The country is also removing all of its restrictions and limitations regarding the organization of events and activities. Whilst social distancing, personal hygiene practices and hand washing facilities are set to remain in place, travelers can rest assured that they can begin to enjoy the cultural activities that Curaçao has to offer at their very best. Last month, the country lifted its curfew and cap on public gatherings.
However, travelers should note that some restrictions are here to stay – for now at least. Those set to visit Curaçao should note that there is still a requirement to fill out a digital immigration card online prior to departure. In addition, travelers will also need to digitally fill out the Passenger Locator Card (PLC) 48 hours prior to their departure and carry a printed or digital document of proof with them.
