With travel being such a huge part of society, it’s a rare sight to see a flight being launched for the first time ever.

Especially when it comes to Delta – a mega-popular airline with a huge network, but, as the old saying goes, “there is a first time for everything”.

This week, Delta announced an exciting new opportunity to take a flight to a spectacular Asian city. Many publications are highlighting Asia and its wondrous cities and beaches as go-to places in 2024.

In fact, this particular place ranked second on Airbnb’s list of ‘trendiest destinations’. Now, Americans will have easier access than ever on one of their favorite airlines.

Delta’s First Ever U.S.-Taipei Route

Taiwan took its sweet time reopening after the world seemed to fall on its face, but they are back, and travelers look forward to reaping the benefits of visiting such a cool city.

Delta is no stranger to Taipei as the city has been in their route network before with a direct flight from Tokyo.

However, Taipei will soon make its debut with Delta with a nonstop flight from mainland USA. The lucky winner is Seattle, one of the closest U.S. markets to Asia.

So, even if you don’t live in Washington, you will soon be able to have a convenient connection with Delta via Seattle, where it’s not out of the way.

“This route not only opens new doors to Taipei’s captivating skyline, vibrant night markets, and rich cultural heritage, but it also marks a significant stride in enhancing Seattle’s global connectivity.”

“This strategic addition to Delta’s trans-Pacific portfolio is poised to make a profound impact on the Seattle market, fostering increased business and leisure travel opportunities for our discerning customers.

Which Airline Should You Take?

Delta may be the latest to add Taipei to their flight options, but United beat them to it. Earlier this year, United launched nonstop flights to Taipei from San Francisco.

Obviously, if you live in Seattle, the best option is Delta and the same for San Francisco residents with United.

However, that’s not the end of options. There are multiple airlines of Asian origin offering direct flights to Taipei from the U.S. In fact, Taipei introduced their own airline, Starlux, earlier this year.

Those looking to visit this awesome cultural city before summer will have to choose between United, Starlux, and EVA Air for direct flights.

Delta’s new nonstop route from Seattle will launch June 6, 2024 with daily, year-round service from SEA on a premium Airbus A330-900neo.

This adds to their already impressive portfolio as they continue to expand to Asia and the Pacific with exciting destinations such as Seoul, Shanghai, Auckland, and Sydney, which are so much more accessible.

Why Is Taiwan Trending With Travelers?

There may be one benefit of opening borders later than your neighbors. Travelers have been globetrotting what seems like everywhere, so when a country re-opens to tourism it creates a sense of curiosity and wonder.

Now that it has slowly become easier to reach, travelers are taking advantage of the opportunity.

Asia has long been home to expats, and now even more so with the craze of digital nomads taking over the world.

Taiwan has become increasingly popular with remote workers as the country is super safe, even as mainstream news tends to speak of Taiwan with a fear-mongering tone.

Despite the narrative, the country is booming and perhaps even more so next year. Any type of traveler will love Taiwan; it’s not just for Taipei personalities.

The capital city of Taipei has a rich history where traditions stand firm today, with remarkable temples, gastronomy, and cultural events.

Locals will embrace seeing outsiders as you peruse through all the top sites gazing at amazing architecture, bustling night markets, and perhaps, venture out further to stunning tropical beaches, such as Peng Peng.

Taiwan gives travelers a peak into China, but serves as its own democratic state where U.S. visitors do not need a visa, unlike China.
