This week the fourth generation AIRcelerate, a dual study program offered by Austrian Airlines in cooperation with Worms University of Applied Sciences since 2018, was kicked off. The training program was developed to bridge the lack of specialists in academic positions, where airline-specific know-how as well as an understanding of business administration is needed, and to offer young, aviation-enthusiastic talents the best possible framework to start their career in the aviation industry.
During the onboarding phase, the six young talents were matched with buddies from previous AIRcelerate generations as well as mentors from the management team. Next week, they will start the first of seven semesters of the Aviation Management Bachelor program. During the lecture-free period, the students will be offered a trainee program at Austrian Airlines in Vienna-Schwechat. After learning the theoretical basics of aviation management, they will go through their first job rotation in Austrian Airlines
Operations starting in mid-February. In addition to operational assignments on the ground or in the air, they will learn everything they need to know in a wide variety of departments as well as in numerous practical commercial phases, projects and training courses in order to be able to join Austrian Airlines directly after the program. In addition to the opportunity to study abroad for a semester, the trainee program also focuses on comprehensive coaching and seminars to support personal development. Another part of the program is an assignment to a project of the Lufthansa Group aid organisation Help Alliance.
