Hilton has announced the opening of Hilton Garden Inn Kyoto Shijo Karasuma, marking the debut of the first Hilton Garden Inn property in Japan.
The new opening also marks an incredible milestone for Hilton as the company’s 600th hotel in Asia Pacific, cementing Hilton’s position as the fastest-growing hotel company in the region.
“We are thrilled to celebrate Hilton Garden Inn’s brand debut in one of the most popular destinations in Japan. Hilton Garden Inn Kyoto Shijo Karasuma represents a stunning addition to our rapidly growing portfolio,” said Jenny Milos, vice president, focused service and all suites brands, Asia Pacific, Hilton.
“As the world reopens, we look forward to welcoming guests through our doors, giving them the chance to experience our upscale yet affordable accommodations as well as heartfelt service and value-added amenities. Our team members strive to create an elevated yet approachable atmosphere where guests can feel both relaxed and confident thanks to the brand’s signature positive and upbeat service. We are confident that this new hotel will meet the diverse needs of both leisure and business travellers here in Kyoto.”
Hilton Garden Inn Kyoto Shijo Karasuma is located in central Kyoto, only three minutes from Kyoto Station by subway and a five-minute walk from the Shijo and Gojo subway stations. The property is close to popular tourist attractions such as Gion, a tourist-favorite with its high concentration of traditional wooden machiya merchant houses, as well as Nijo Castle, a UNESCO world heritage site and one of the best surviving examples of palace architecture from Japan’s feudal era. Situated within walking distance of shopping areas such as Nishiki Market and the business district, the hotel serves as a convenient base for both leisure and business travellers.
“We are delighted to open Hilton Garden Inn Kyoto Shijo Karasuma at a time when the government has launched a nationwide travel discount program, and borders are reopening to international travellers. We are already seeing a tremendous response from leisure and business guests due to pent-up travel demand across Japan, and we look forward to offering a bright and satisfying experience for both domestic and international guests here in Kyoto,” said Timothy Soper, area vice president, head of Japan, Korea & Micronesia, Hilton.
The nine-storey, 250-room hotel features comfortable guest rooms combining traditional Japanese elements with modern sensibilities. The hotel offers nine types of guest rooms, ranging from functional standard 20 to 23-square-meter layouts for up to two people, to 57-square-meter premium family rooms that can accommodate up to six people comfortably. Pet-friendly rooms allowing guests to stay with their dogs are also available.

Guests will have access to a variety of amenities and services, including complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, a self-service laundry facility, a fitness centre, and The Shop, where local snacks, beverages, coffee, and other items are available 24 hours a day.
