Seabourn Takes Delivery of Second Expedition Ship

The Seabourn Pursuit expedition ship was officially delivered to Seabourn during a maritime ceremony at the T. Mariotti shipyard in Genoa, Italy, marking nearly three years of construction completion. The vessel represents the second expedition ship of the luxury line, following the launch of Seabourn Venture in 2022.

On 31 July 2023, executives and officials from Seabourn, a subsidiary of Carnival Corporation, and representatives from the T. Mariotti shipyard gathered to celebrate the successful delivery of the Seabourn Pursuit, an ultra-luxury expedition vessel.

Seabourn Pursuit offers accommodations for 264 guests in its all-suite facilities. The vessel was designed to meet the PC6 Polar Class standards, allowing it to operate in the Antarctic and Arctic regions. Despite its polar capabilities, Seabourn Pursuit ensures high-luxury services and amenities for its passengers.

“With remarkable craftsmanship by the Mariotti team, an abundance of space, and the breathtaking style of Tihany Design, Seabourn Pursuit raises the bar for ultra-luxury expedition travel. We are grateful to Mariotti and Tihany Design for their expertise in shaping and making our dream come true for our guests,” said Seabourn President Natalya Leahy.

With a gross tonnage 23,000, the vessel provides a refined small-ship experience and a luxurious design reminiscent of a private club. It is equipped with cutting-edge technologies and services, such as a fleet of Zodiacs for water-based activities and landings, kayaks, two submarines capable of accommodating six guests each for underwater explorations, and a team of 24 expert professionals dedicated to expedition activities.

“We are truly proud to have built the most outstanding ultra-luxury expedition ship for Seabourn. This is another important masterpiece for Italian shipbuilding coming out of T. Mariotti shipyard, demonstrating again that our leadership in this sector is well consolidated,” said Marco Ghiglione, Managing Director of T. Mariotti.

The ship’s luxurious interiors are designed to provide guests with the highest level of satisfaction. However, the primary emphasis of Seabourn Pursuit’s itineraries lies in the destination itself. The ship offers an expansive deck space of nearly 30,000 square feet and indoor and outdoor viewing areas, ensuring a remarkable experience for guests.

The Constellation Lounge is equipped with a 4K GSS Cineflex Camera mounted on its mast. This camera captures imagery from a considerable distance and broadcasts it on monitors strategically placed throughout the ship, including in guest suites.

The expedition vessel will implement a hosted bridge policy, subject to the discretion of the ship’s captain. This policy will allow expedition team members to grant guests access to the ship’s command centre, where they can interact with the officers responsible for navigating each journey.

Seabourn recently revealed information regarding the ship’s elegant suites, which are available in 12 different categories, each featuring oceanfront balconies. Guests have the privilege of selecting from a range of luxurious accommodations, including Veranda Suites, Veranda Spa Suites, Panorama Veranda Suites, Penthouse Suites, Penthouse Spa Suite, Grand Wintergarden Suites, Wintergarden Suites, Owner’s Suites, and Signature Suites.

All guests staying in suites, regardless of category, will have access to high-speed internet, round-the-clock in-suite dining, and personalised services provided by a dedicated Personal Suite Host and Suite Attendant. The Seabourn Pursuit offers eight dining venues, providing guests a diverse culinary experience. Additionally, the cruise fares include the provision of premium spirits and fine wines, ensuring a high-quality beverage selection for passengers to enjoy.

After completing the handover in Genoa, the vessel will proceed to Rome, where it will undergo the necessary preparations for its inaugural cruise. This particular voyage is an 8-day excursion known as the Tyrrhenian Isles & France cruise, scheduled to depart on 12 August. The Seabourn Pursuit is expected to embark on a series of five Mediterranean cruises until late September, after which it will continue with a transatlantic voyage.

The vessel is scheduled to arrive in Barbados on 10 October, starting a series of expedition voyages to the coastal regions of South America and the Amazon.

The inaugural polar cruise of the recently launched expedition ship is scheduled for 24 October. The ship will embark on a 35-day journey titled “Amazon to the Antarctic,” a positioning voyage for a series of Antarctic sailings during winter.

Following the successful conclusion of its inaugural Antarctic season, Seabourn Pursuit is scheduled to embark on a voyage to the South Pacific and Australia. During this period, the ship will offer a series of cruises to the Kimberley region, Australia’s Northern Territory and Western Australia. These exclusive cruises are set to take place from June to August 2024.
