Sometimes the best places to discover are right here in our own backyard. We just need a little nudge to put our passport away and check out what the U.S. has to offer.

Rather than scratch our travel itch for wondrous trips abroad, shorter domestic trips can be just as fun, if not more.

Whether it’s a buzzing nightlife scene, scenic beaches or wide open spaces, the U.S. has it all. Forbes just released their latest Forbes Travel Guide of the “Top 24 Destinations for 2024”.

In no particular order, these are the top 6 destinations in America according to Forbes:

Las Vegas

Beyond football fanatics, there are so many fun things to see and experience beyond the Super Bowl this year, including the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Vegas has taken over headlines in recent months for one of the most unique new experiences on Earth.

The new Sphere venue has left patrons astounded by the sheer brilliance of immersive thrills through live performances and films.

Of course, that’s not all Vegas has to offer. It’s 24/7 nonstop entertainment. With new luxury resorts now open, such as the lavish Fontainebleau, it only adds to the allure of this iconic desert city.

Maui

Another destination making headlines in 2023 is the gorgeous island of Maui – one of America’s most scenic getaways.

By now, we surely know of the tragic wildfire that ravaged the island leaving vacationers torn between, “should I stay?” or “should I go?”.

Maui has turned the page in 2024 and is ready as ever to embrace tourism, mindfully, of course. Many hotels are offering packages where portions of proceeds go to those affected by the billions in damages.

Vacationers can hit multiple beaches stretching 30 miles for sunbathing, swimming, surfing, and whale watching.

Dallas

Dallas is more than meets the eye. Home to a random art installation in the middle of downtown, this eyesore will welcome hordes of visitors to see the Solar Eclipse in April as it directly crosses over.

This sprawling city in the Lone Star State is one of the trendiest in 2024 as a foodie paradise with endless shopping and a thriving art scene.

The entire metroplex is worth a visit as sister city, Fort Worth, is just 30 minutes away with an entirely different vibe matching its slogan, “Where the West Begins”.

San Diego

Is there anyone who doesn’t love San Diego? Rivaling Maui as the most scenic destination on this list, San Diego has more of a city feel but still offers incredible beaches and mountain hikes.

Visitors can experience the best of both worlds as San Diego is geographically and culturally rich next to the vast city of Tijuana, Mexico.

Often overshadowed by Los Angeles, San Diego is more than just a chill beach city. Tourists can explore Balboa Park home to the famous San Diego Zoo and cool exhibits, such as the Museum of Man’s Cannibals: Myth & Reality.

From Oceanside to Imperial Beach, tourists can stay in lavish beachfront hotels and enjoy the sunny weather year-round.

Phoenix

Phoenix may seem like an unsuspecting place to visit, but it’s full of surprises. The summer months may be a hard pass unless you want to lounge around the pool in the ritzy neighboring town of Scottsdale.

Although Forbes points out that the Arizona Biltmore: A Waldorf Astoria Resort is a must-visit, especially for their 95th-anniversary celebration this year.

The biggest city in Arizona is a desert playground, but the surrounding towns each have their own personality.

Scottsdale, Tempe, and Glendale all have their own attractions, but the first-of-its-kind Mattel Adventure Park should be on your radar as it’s set to open later this year.

Big Sky, Montana

Mega popular TV show Yellowstone may have put Montana on the map, but Forbes recommends another side away from the ‘wild west’ lifestyle.

Put your cowboy hats down and ski goggles on in this picturesque mountain town that sees 400 inches of snowfall annually.

Nearby Bozeman is easy to fly into to reach this luxury ski town where you can enjoy hitting the slopes and culinary delights with festivals, such as the Savor Big Sky Food & Wine Festival.
