Any seasoned traveler knows that one great way to explore your dream destination at a fraction of the price is to travel in the off-season.

While it’s true that off-seasons are less popular for good reason (more often than not, the weather), there are still many reasons to visit these hotspots in the less popular times.

Not only can visiting a popular city in its off-season save a decent amount of money, but the crowds are fewer, and tickets to the sites, tours, accommodation, and restaurant reservations are much easier to snag.

A new report looks at the off-season value of popular destinations across the U.S. and determines which are best for a vacation based on factors such as accommodation prices, restaurant costs, and airfare.

These Are 6 U.S. Destinations That Are Some Of The Cheapest For A Getaway This Winter:

Las Vegas

This mega-popular U.S. hotspot is typically the busiest in the spring and fall months when temperatures are moderate and it’s still bearable to walk around all day. While some winter times can be busy here, it’s the months of January and February that really see the prices drop.

The average off-season travel cost comes at the lowest for U.S. destinations, costing around $734 for airfare, a one-night hotel rate, and one day of three meals.

Of course, there are more than enough things to do in Las Vegas, no matter the weather, and finding ways to pass the time in the winter months should not be an issue for anyone.

Oakland

Coming in at around $766 for a winter getaway, the off-season in the up-and-coming California Oakland area is a great time to save some money on this often costly region.

Oakland has been trending with travelers recently for a variety of reasons, including the impressive food scene, which has been hailed the best on the West Coast.

There are more than enough museums to visit if the weather is too cold, and don’t forget to bundle up and explore the Redwoods, made even more magical by a dusting of snow.

Denver

A trip to Denver in its low season of winter will set you back around $831 for airfare, one day of eating out at restaurants, and one night of accommodation.

The Mile High City simply sparkles in the wintertime, and of course, those who hit the slopes are spoiled for choice, with many options a short drive away.

Recently rated a great option for solo travelers, Denver is snowy and cozy and full of restaurants, cafes, wineries, and museums to duck into when you are done exploring the historic city center.

Houston

This Texas hotspot slows down in the winter, and therefore savings can be found. The average off-season travel costs calculated for Houston come in at around $858. With a more mild climate and loads of sunshine, Houston makes a good winter escape.

Hiking and biking are good options here, and golfing is popular year-round. The livestock show and rodeo take place later in the season and offer a chance to see the real way of life for these cowboys.

Baltimore

Easily the coldest option on the list is the northeastern city of Baltimore, where a winter trip can cost about $871. There are many reasons to come explore this cool and cultural city in the colder months, and you won’t have to contend with the warm weather crowds to see the popular sites.

Any of the Harbor attractions are walkable to each other and inside, and views from the Baltimore World Trade Center Observatory are even more pretty with snow-capped roofs. While some of the historic ships might not be open in the winter, there are some that remain available for tours throughout the years.

Christmas Village in Baltimore 📍501 Light St, Baltimore, MD 21230 Every year, @bmorechristmas comes to the Inner Harbor from Thanksgiving-Christmas Eve. The German themed market has over 50 vendors selling food, drinks, gifts, and more. I was invited to preview Christmas Village then came back with my niece and had a lovely time as usual. Recommend getting there early to avoid long lines. #christmasvillage #bmorechristmas #baltimore

Nashville

This mega-popular spot has seen an explosion in tourists recently, and therefore costs are rising, yet if you visit in the low season of winter, you can save some money. An average off-season trip to Nashville is calculated to cost $874, and includes airfares, accommodation, and meals for one day.

The Music City is popular throughout the year, so even in the winter you are likely to see other tourists around, but not nearly as many as you would in the summer. Ride the downtown trolly, hit up the honky-tonks, and enjoy the atmosphere at a fraction of the price that you would in the warmer months.
