Traveling in North America this season doesn’t always have to involve planes. Sometimes the best way to get to a new or favorite destination is by train or bus.
Not only is this more sustainable for the environment, but it can save you a few bucks since gas prices for planes are skyrocketing.
Traveling by train can save you time by avoiding checking into an airport and possibly losing your bag, and more travelers are getting on board — literally.
This isn’t just a regional trend that’s happening. If you want to travel anywhere, check out trains or buses; they’re an economical and green alternative to planes. Websites like Omio work specifically with buses, trains, and planes when you’re abroad in places like Europe.
More and more countries are looking at alternative forms of transportation that don’t exhaust your pocket or the world around you.
Brightline in Florida is creating a rail connection directly from Miami to Orlando, making it easier for commuters to jump from Central and South Florida. The whole world will be running on tracks making it easier and more accessible for travelers.
In the world of train travel, a new route was just voted the most scenic.

This system has about 283 different train routes, and they take you to 17 cities and 22 stations.
Even cooler is seeing the beautiful scenery of upstate New York and Canada on one of the trains.
If you’re doing this during the fall, you’ll be amazed at the different colors the fall foliage in places like Bear Mountain can produce.
The cities with the most users are Utica and New York. If you’re planning to visit New York City sometime soon, check out these trains for a bonus. You’ll explore more of New York and even see a different country.
Tickets are relatively affordable depending on your sensibility, but depending on where you’re going, you could spend anywhere from $15 to $120.
It’s still cheaper than flying, depending on which time of year. And you don’t have to stress out about airport security or waiting on delayed planes which can sometimes take hours off your vacation or holiday.
