You can explore an old lava tube yourself by heading out to Hana lava tube. The cave is open to the public with an admission fee of $15 per person, and features handrails in some sections that will make your exploration not only fun and memorable, but also safe.

If you’re looking to explore the outdoors, head over to Makawao forest for several miles of hiking trails that wind through the gorgeous island trees. Kahakapao Loop Trail is one such trail. Coming in at 6.6 miles total, this is a great choice for those looking for a bit of a longer adventure, while those looking for a shorter hike can opt to not do the full loop.
