Looking for the perfect summer getaway?
These 3 European beach destinations are currently trending with travelers and setting all-time tourism records.
Now is the perfect time to start planning a summer trip to Europe.
I personally recommend going in early September because summer crowds will have died off but you’ll still be able to enjoy hot weather and beaches at this time of year.
If you’re looking for some inspiration on where to go, these are some of the trendiest destinations in Europe with gorgeous beaches to visit this year.
Antalya, Turkïye
Antalya is one of the hottest beach destinations of the summer.
Located on the Mediterranean Sea, Antalya is a Turkish resort city along the country’s famed Turquoise Coast.
With stunning beaches and shockingly affordable prices, it’s no wonder that Antalya is setting all-time tourism records.
More than 15 million tourists visited Antalya in 2023, and that number is only expected to grow in 2024.
This is a great destination for history, culture, food, and nightlife too. Antalya is a vibrant, bustling city and there’s always a lot going on.
When it comes to accommodation, you’ll find everything from luxurious all-inclusive resorts to cheap budget hotels, so a trip here can cost as much or as little as you’d like.
For digital nomads, Antalya is also a great place to live (you can easily spend less than $2,000 per month to live here) and Turkïye recently launched a digital nomad visa making it easier to stay here long-term and work remotely.
Valencia, Spain
Another one of the top European beach destinations this year is Valencia, Spain.
When you think of beaches in Spain, the islands of Ibiza and Mallorca or the sunny southern Costa del Sol might come to mind first. Valencia is a bit of an underrated destination still.
But this beautiful coastal destination is surging in popularity, with a 29% increase in tourists so far in 2024 compared to last year.
It’s the third largest city in Spain after Madrid and Barcelona, so there’s never a dull moment in Valencia.
The city is famous for its mixture of historic and modern architecture, vibrant culture of festivals, and delicious food — especially fresh seafood and paella!
The city is located right on the coast, so you don’t have to go far at all to find great beaches — and in my opinion, the city beaches of Valencia are so much better than those in Barcelona.
It’s also a pretty affordable destination, cheaper than many other places in Spain. And for digital nomads, Valencia is also one of the top Mediterranean cities to live and work in.
Sliema, Malta
Finally, Sliema is one of the hottest beach destinations in Europe this summer.
Located on the small Mediterranean island of Malta, Sliema is one of the country’s top beach destinations that is only growing in popularity.
Malta had a record-breaking 3 million tourists in 2023, and that number is only expected to increase this year as more and more travelers discover this beautiful island.
Sliema is the perfect place to stay because you have easy access to great beaches, and you’re only a 12-minute ferry ride from Valletta, the beautiful and historic capital of Malta.
Malta is a really small country, so I highly recommend exploring the rest of the island while you’re there. In particular, taking a tour to the smaller islands of Gozo and Comino is a must. Or head to Malta’s famous Blue Grotto or the unique Popeye Village.
And good news for digital nomads, Malta also offers a digital nomad visa and it’s a relatively affordable place to live if you’re dreaming of having a base in the Mediterranean.
