Los Cabos is currently on track to become one of the most popular destinations in Mexico.

This trendy beach destination is located at the tip of Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula on the Pacific Coast.

It’s made up of San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, two resort cities separated by a 20-mile corridor lined with more beaches and hotels.

According to recent data from Mexican media outlet El Sudcaliforniano, Los Cabos is set to receive more than 4 million visitors in 2023.

From January through October, there have already been over 3.2 million visitors, putting Los Cabos on track to break its all-time tourism record.

Here’s why Los Cabos is one of the hottest destinations in Mexico right now.

1. It’s Easily Accessible

Los Cabos is becoming an increasingly popular destination for American travelers due to an abundance of nonstop flights available from tons of U.S. cities.

There are 23 cities in the United States with nonstop flights to San José del Cabo this winter, making it very accessible for American travelers.

Since it’s located on the Pacific Coast, Los Cabos is an extremely convenient getaway for travelers from the West Coast of the United States. Flights from California are just 2 to 2.5 hours, while flights from Arizona and Texas are under 3 hours.

2. Wellness Capital Of Mexico

While many destinations in Mexico have great beaches, Los Cabos has more than that. In addition to beaches, Los Cabos is also known for being the wellness capital of Mexico.

Since wellness travel has been one of the biggest travel trends of the year, it’s no surprise that Los Cabos has become a major hotspot.

From spa treatments to yoga classes to healthy restaurants, there are plenty of ways to focus on wellness while traveling in Los Cabos.

3. Amazing Beaches

Of course, you can’t talk about Los Cabos without mentioning the beaches! Most travelers flocking to Los Cabos are in search of the quintessential relaxing beach getaway.

There are tons of great sandy beaches near San José del Cabo, Cabo San Lucas, and the 20-mile stretch in between the two. The beaches of Los Cabos are perfect for sunbathing, swimming, or trying your hand at water sports.

Los Cabos is also unique due to its many rock formations, one of the most iconic being the Arch of Cabo San Lucas. A great way to explore Los Cabos is by boat, where you can take in the stunning natural rock formations around the peninsula.

4. It’s Extremely Safe

Another reason why Los Cabos is so popular with travelers is because it’s one of the safest destinations in Mexico.

While most of Mexico is actually very safe (despite what you might hear in the media sometimes), Los Cabos is one of the safest areas in the country for tourists.

This also makes it a great destination for solo travelers, especially solo female travelers who are concerned about safety while traveling alone.

5. Lots Of Great Resorts

If you’re looking to splurge on a resort vacation, Los Cabos is the place to go. Travelers can choose from tons of luxurious beachfront resorts — but they don’t come cheap. During the high season, resorts in Los Cabos can average over $600 per night.

If you want to save money on a resort in Los Cabos, travel during the off-season. Hotel rates are often much lower from July through September.

You can also consider staying in a boutique hotel in Los Cabos. These smaller hotels offer a more intimate experience than sprawling resorts, and some of them are cheaper than staying at a resort (without sacrificing quality!)
