A new study has revealed the trending U.S. states that American travelers want to visit most right now.
Based on a recent survey from MMGY Travel Intelligence, the following 4 U.S. states are the most wished-for destinations this year.
Here’s a look at where American travelers want to go:
4. Colorado
Ever heard the quote “The mountains are calling and I must go” from John Muir? Loads of other Americans share the same sentiment because Colorado is one of the trendiest destinations of the year.
This state out West is known for its stunning mountain scenery. It’s one of the top winter sports destinations in the United States, with places like Aspen, Breckenridge, Telluride, and Vail attracting skiers and snowboarders every winter.
It’s the ultimate destination for a winter wonderland getaway, but Colorado is just as beautiful during the spring, summer, and fall too.
Summer is an especially good time for hiking and outdoor activities. Colorado also has several cool cities, including the capital Denver and smaller Boulder, which was recently named the best city for digital nomads in the United States.
3. California
Many American travelers are also California dreamin’ this year, and the Golden State is next on the list of most popular destinations for 2024.

Personally, I loved road tripping through Southern California, from the otherworldly desert landscape of Joshua Tree National Park and Palm Springs to the sweeping ocean vistas of the Pacific Coast Highway to the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles.

Nicknamed the Sunshine State, there’s a reason that Florida is one of the most popular destinations in the United States and at the top of many American travelers’ wish lists.
Florida offers year-round warmth and sunshine, making it a welcome escape for many Americans who live in colder climates during the winter, spring, and fall.
If you’re looking for a beach getaway, you’ll find some of the best beaches in the United States in Florida. My favorite beaches are along the Emerald Coast, a stretch of 100 miles of coastline on the Florida Panhandle. In my opinion, this is the most beautiful part of Florida, and it’s a lot more laidback than beaches like Miami.
Florida is also home to Orlando, which is consistently one of the most-visited destinations in the United States thanks to the Disney World and Universal Orlando theme parks.

Located in the middle of the South Pacific, Hawaii feels like an exotic and far-flung destination, even though it’s part of the United States.
Hawaii is one of the top destinations in the United States for a beach getaway. It’s also a fantastic cultural destination. And with multiple islands to choose from, there’s something for every traveler.
Oahu, home to Hawaii’s capital, Honolulu, is by far the most visited island in Hawaii. It’s perfect for first-time visitors because it offers a great mix of nature and beaches as well as convenient city life.
Maui is a beautiful island that is known for its amazing beaches and outdoor activities. Kauai, known as the Garden Island, is perfect for nature lovers looking to get more off the beaten track.
