So there’s nowhere better to take a beach day! But which beach is best?
Tripadvisor has announced their Best of the Best awards and revealed Mexico’s top 10 beaches for 2024.

10. Playa Las Gatas, Zihuatenejo
This is the perfect beach for water lovers.
It was made for swimming and snorkeling: quite literally, Playa Las Gatas is home to an artificial reef!
That means you’ll have plenty of opportunities to spot colorful fish and practice your snorkeling skills here.
Above the warm waters, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding are also popular.
But if you’re more interested in relaxing, then you won’t be disappointed either.
White sand, plenty of lawn chairs, and restaurants and bars close by all make this a great spot for a laidback beach day.
9. Playa La Entrega, La Crucecita
This is a welcoming beach with a relaxed vibe.
People come to Playa La Entrega to have fun, and you’ll find a good mix of locals and tourists.
It’s a popular spot for both kayakers and snorkelers and it has great facilities if you’re making a day trip too.
Think restrooms, accessible parking, and great nearby restaurants too.
Spot the sea life in the morning, then hop out and eat the seafood this spot is renowned for for lunch!
8. Nuevo Nayarit Beach, Nuevo Nayarit
The vast expanse of golden sand is the highlight of Nuevo Nayarit Beach.
It’s massive!
Meaning you won’t have any problems finding somewhere to sit down and relax.
Nuevo Nayarit is also a popular choice for surfers and boogie boarders thanks to the decent waves, and if you’re a nature lover, then this is a great beach for wildlife spotting.
A flock of Pelicans call this beach home and there’s a turtle sanctuary nearby too.
7. Playa La Ropa, Zihuatanejo
Playa La Ropa is a beautiful beach that boasts inviting waters and a moon-shaped strip of perfect sand.
It is surrounded by small resorts, meaning you’ll have plenty of options for places to stay or play.
The beach is situated in a bay with a backdrop of mountains, adding to the secluded private island feel.
Playa La Ropa is close to another of Mexico’s top 10 beaches, Playa Las Gatas.
In fact, it’s easy to kayak or paddle board between the 2 meaning you can enjoy two of Mexico’s best beaches in one day trip!
6. Playa El Cielo, Cozumel
Playa El Cielo is the prettiest beach in Cozumel, which is saying something on an island packed full of pretty beaches!
The views here are spectacular and the color of the sea looks unreal.
This is an incredible place to enjoy a drink and relax on the shoreline, but it is the water that is the main attraction.
A calm, shallow ocean is an excellent spot for snorkeling and swimming, and there is a huge population of sea stars here.
The coral reef attracts scuba divers too, so whatever kind of water sports you’re into, this is a great place to be!
5. Medano Beach, Cabo San Lucas
If you like a busy and popular beach with tons to see and do then Medano Beach is a perfect choice.
You won’t have time to sit down and relax as you try jetskis, surfing, snorkeling and swimming. There are beachside restaurants and busy bars, where you can sit and watch the boats coming in and out of the marina.

4. Chileno Beach, Cabo San Lucas
Chileno Beach is incredibly popular because it offers something for everything.

Despite being Mexico’s most popular beach resort, only one beach in Cancun made the top 10 and that’s Playa Delfines.

2. Playa Norte, Isla Mujeres

1. Balandra Beach, La Paz
Balandra Beach is officially the best beach in Mexico for 2024 despite its secluded location.
And it’s easy to see why!
Vibrant blue shallow waters are perfect for swimming, snorkeling and paddle boarding or kayaking.
The beach is also surrounded by picturesque volcanic cliffs and is fringed with a semi-circle of the most beautiful white sand I’ve ever seen.
Because Balandra Beach is part of a protected area, visitor numbers are limited each day.
Arrive early to secure a parking space as well as a spot to relax on this incredible beach.
